LOWRUSH HISTORY

Motto:  Gospel Is What We Do!  Gospel Is What We Are All About!

LowRush Music started up in 1984.  The name was given to me by my uncle Sonny Carter.  He worked with Motown back in the 50’s.  He managed the group “The Four Tops”, from Motown.  He also worked with Capitol Records in Los Angeles, California and managed Teddy Pendergrass.  I mention to him I wanted to start up a Gospel Label.  At the time, we were called “The Lowery Brothers” from Montgomery, Alabama.  I told my uncle I did not have a name for my record company.  “He said, your daddy last name is Lowery, and your mother last name is Rushton.  This is how the name LowRush came about.

We released our first album called “Jesus on My Mind” in 1985.  I was working at the time.  When I retired I asked the Lord about starting back up my record company.   I ask the Lord how can I do this?

The Lord said “Step and Faith.” LowRush first release was “The Gospel Imperials” from Huntsville, Alabama, and the next groups were “The Veal Brothers from Gloster, Mississippi, and “The Golden Wings”, from Tupelo, Mississippi.  Other artist’s liked what we were doing for independent artists.  So, more artists began to come our way.  Our Mission is to give unknown artist a chance to be heard on the radio, internet, and other means of communications. Big companies would not give them a chance.  This is what we are still doing today.
